SCOPE

Successful completion of this course will satisfy the Auxiliary Machinery training requirements of 46 CFR 11.329 (a)(4)(vi) for STCW endorsements as OICEW on vessels powered by main propulsion machinery of 750 kW / 1,000 HP propulsion power or more.


​OBJECTIVE

The course objective is to instruct the student in the areas relevant to Auxiliary Machinery at the Operational Level and satisfy regulations as stated in Standards of Training Certification and Watchkeeping Section A-III/1 and Table A-III/1, for competence for officers in charge of an engineering watch in a manned engine-room or designated duty engineers in a periodically unmanned engine-room. 

ENTRY STANDARDS

Course is available to the following persons:

Any licensed engineer, apprentice engineers with at least 4 months sea time in the engine department, or QMED or equivalent with 6 months sea time in the engine department, oiler, fireman/watertender, or junior engineer 6 months of sea time in the engine room, or a graduate from the marine engineering course of a school of technology accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.
